Montcada i Reixac is a municipality in Catalonia. It belongs to the province of Barcelona, in the Vallès Occidental region. It forms part of the metropolitan area of Barcelona and borders with Barcelona, Cerdanyola del Vallès, Ripollet, Barberà del Vallès, Santa Perpetua de Moguda, La Llagosta, Sant Fost de Campsentellas, Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Badalona and Ripollet. The isolated area of Gallecs belonging to the municipality limits with Palau-solità i Plegamans and Mollet del Vallès.
On the limit of its term with that of Sant Fost de Campsentellas is the Iberian site of Les Maleses.
The traditional economy of Montcada i Reixac had always been based on agriculture: vineyards, wheat, potatoes, strawberries and fruit trees. In 1917 an important industrialization took place with the installation of various companies, among which the Asland cement factory stood out.
Montcada i Reixac is established as a key point in the railway links of Barcelona, passing through said locality three railway lines. The city has five active railway stations (Montcada Bifurcació, Montcada i Reixac-Manresa, Montcada i Reixac-Santa María, Montcada-Ripollet and Montcada i Reixac). Since 2003 there is also a Barcelona Metro station in the municipal area, it is Line 11 (light green) with the name of Can Cuiàs located in the Can Cuiàs neighborhood.
